Old Dress, New Twist
Vintage Dress, Necklace c/o Lisa Benson, Longchamp Bag
Although I tend to complain that my mother never throws anything away, when it comes to clothes, her reluctance to purge has proven to be beneficial to my own closet. Some of my favorite pieces have been permanently borrowed from both my parents, and this dress is the most recent addition to that wardrobe category.
Though it probably dates back to the 80s or earlier, its simple silhouette, bright goldenrod color, and durable cotton fabric make it a timeless piece I could have easily purchased in the current season. Its length (tea length or just above the ankle) means it also loosely fits in to the maxi dress trend that is still having its moment. Paired with a statement necklace, it was the perfect outfit for some summer cocktails with family at Castle Hill.
I like that J.Crew calls this color (shown as part of their Spring Color Shop) sea-glass green instead of sea foam green. Sea-glass is translucent, frosted, and soft like this color. Sea glass jumps out at you from the neutrals tones of the sand. Sea foam is actually a kind of gross grayish yellow…not a color you’d wear and certainly not the color of these lovely pieces.
Don’t mind if I Do…

Can’t believe I didn’t discover this until yesterday — because let’s be honest, I’m extremely familiar with most things J.Crew — but if you’ve never seen the J.Crew Wedding Album on their website, it’s worth a look. It combines many of my favorite things including: love stories, beautiful photography, wonderfully happy people, and of course, J.Crew clothing.
Your looks were timeless and your style impeccable. Thank you for setting the bar so high. I love you so much Daddy and miss you every day. Shoutout to kelly green shorts.
Huge supporter of the Team USA Opening Ceremony outfits this Olympics. Blazers, check. Ralph Lauren, check. Nothing says, “Let’s represent what the US is all about,” more than dressing in a navy blue blazer and calling it a day.
