Boom, Americana. Because every room could use a little more USA and anchor action.

So I got this new Alex & Ani bangle today that I’m rather fond of and in the purchase process had a nice little moment where the universe aligned. The bracelet is part of a collection based on the four elements (earth, water, air, fire) and I was between this one (air) or the water one. As an Aquarius, I assumed that I must be a water sign and was going against my own element by eventually choosing the air bracelet. The design appealed to me a bit more and I liked the sentiment attached, “Air appreciates different perspectives, believes in the protection of higher powers and values expressions of love.” After posing the question to Google, it turns out Aquarius is an air sign.
The moral of the story: your instincts will probably be right. Go with them.
So my friends have always said that music festivals “might not be for me” since I’m rather non-negotiable about my need to shower — spending several days on a boat being the obvious exception, but swimming in the ocean more than makes up for it. That being said, I think everyone was a little surprised (but also enthused) when I impulsively scoured Craigslist and procured a ticket to Governor’s Ball for yesterday’s lineup.
All I have to say is that despite the fact that I have never had more sweat pouring out of my body (#upsetting), there’s no place I’d rather have been at approximately 5PM yesterday then packed tight into a crowd of people (including some of my favorite people!), wearing a bandeau and cutoff jorts I made from my mom’s old high-wasted shorts, appreciating the bass of a Major Lazer song pulsing through my chest under a sunny blue sky. Officially a convert, well done TLC & co.
Last weekend in Maryland “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” status was reached in the variety and quantity of food that was consumed. Photographic evidence does not account for the full extravaganza which included:
Brown Sugar Apple Craisin Baked Brie
Black Bean Burgers with Guac
Homemade Cucumber Pickles
S’mores (roasted in the firepit, of course)
Blueberry Cream Cheese Coffee Cake
Seafood Chowder with Sherry
Brioche French Toast
I will always take the picture, when given the opportunity to incorporate an American flag into the shot. We have here a few proofs of this assertion, Second Beach and Bannister’s Wharf, taken pre-move to NYC. There are less flags here, but I suppose that by being New York, the America part is kind of implied.
